Hello Drama Club members!
This is Glenn here. =)

First of all , let's wish all the March Babies a very happy birthday!
Remember to give a dollar to Nisha for us to celebrate their birthdays!

1. People who are going for "Family*" , the show tomorrow , please remember to assemble in school. Also , we need people to help with the props tomorrow , so if anyone is free, do drop by and give us a hand.

2. We will all have to stay back next Monday to help with the props for 45th Anniversary. I know the Sec 4s might have remedials , but me and Patrice hope that you are able to give us a hand too.

3. There might also be a props-making session on Saturday as well. This is To Be Confirmed. =)

Please help us out with the props with an open mind and sincerity , as we are all involved in 45th Anniversary together anyway.

* For the "Family" show , you will be able to wear casual attire. So dress up peeps! =)

Cheers!

HELLOOOO!!

Hi drama club!! It's Niran!! Okay, I know it has been a while since this blog was updated.. My apologies.. It was the common test week and so I was prohibited from using my laptop.. But as promised, I have researched on amazing things about acting and theatre. But before I let you know what I've researched on, I'd like to say...

HAPPY BIRTHDAY FEBRUARY BABIES!! Well, they are IMAN and YU TENG(=

We did celebrate their brithdays yesterday with a chocolocate cake, two beautiful cards and lots of love from the drama club!! I'll try to upload the photos as soon as possible.

Secondly, the drama club has been working on the yearly "Cluster West 6" competition, a CyberWellness skit and also the 45th Anniversary!! Everyone's currently in the process of making these events a success so, Go Drama Club!

Thirdly, some drama members are going for the exchange programme in June with renowned performing arts schools and performing arts conservatory in Austrailia, Perth. They would be undergoing drama exchanges with educational institutes like the John Curtin College for the Arts and even get to visit cultural centres and geographical sites too!

Alright! Now, I'll share my research with you..

I researched about the history of acting.

Acting simply means the work of an actor or an actress, or any other storytelling medium, who tells a story by portraying a character, by usually speaking or singing the written text or play.

Actors mold the character to themselves, based on the character's common interests and goals. This method was taught by Constantin Stanislavski. He was a famous Russian actor and theatre director born in the year 1863. Ever since this method was taught, it has been used in every theatre companies and classes to educate actors till today. He passed away in 1938, at the age of 75. *salutes*

The first actor is believed to be Thespis of Icaria, a man of ancient Greece. According to Ancient Greek sources, he was the first person ever to appear on stage as an actor and portray a character. Thespis introduced a new style of acting, where the actor plays different characters using different masks. He also invented theatrical touring. He would travel to many cities in a horse-drawn wagon with his costumes, masks and props. Interesting eh?

Ooh! Another fun fact! The word "THESPIANS" actually comes from "THESPIS".

Thespians simply mean actors. So drama clubbers, We're ALL thespians!!

Now before I end this entry, I hope we've all learned something and...
Here's the pictures of these two wonderful men who have helped shaped the world of acting. (=

[NOTE: I only managed to find a picture of Constantin Stanislavski. I couldn't find a picture of Thespis. Duh! Camera's were not invented in the ancient times. But I did managed to find a picture of an artefact. (sounds like history eh?) ]

This is Constantin Stanislavski.

This picture of the artefact on the right shows Thespis,
in his horse-drawn wagon..

Ok, Goodbye!! (=
